Welcome. I’m, Sue Torngren, a painter living and working in Sacramento, California. I have been a creative all of my life. I have a Bachelor’s degree from U.C. Davis where I studied during what might have been the heyday of the art department. I also studied at Sacramento City College and U.C. San Diego.
I have shown in numerous venues over my career including University of Nevada, Reno; Artist’s Contemporary Gallery, Sacramento; Davis Art Center, Davis; SF Moma, San Francisco; E Street Gallery, Sacramento; Center for Contemporary Art, Sacramento; MONCA, Chico; University Art, Sacramento; CSUS, Sacramento; Candy Store, Folsom; Verge Center for the Arts, Sacramento, Exploding Head Gallery, Sacramento, Sacramento City College, Sacramento and others.
Painting is a joy and a task master. It is relentlessly present in my life, staring me down, calling my name, and guilt me when ignored. Like a small child it is ever changing and challenging. My hope is that my paintings take wing and find a new homes. That they continue to live and bring joy to others.
Land and Sky Scapes are the constant. However, I enjoy and look forward to things that peak my interest and challenge me to go in a new direction.
In September, I generally host an annual Open Studio in my yard.
